About RoleSense

RoleSense is a job search tool for people looking for remote work. It reads every job ad it indexes for two things most job boards skip: the countries you are actually allowed to work from, and what the ad says about how the team works.

Who builds it

I'm , a software engineer based in Campinas, Brazil, and I build RoleSense on my own: the job ingestion pipeline, the AI that reads each posting, and this site. It is a personal project, not a venture-funded company.

I started it because job boards answer the wrong first question. They filter by keyword, but whether you can apply usually depends on where you live, and whether you want the job depends on how the team works. Those are the two things RoleSense reads for.

Where the data comes from

  • Jobs come from employers' public applicant tracking system boards, such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workable, and link back to the employer's own posting.
  • An AI model reads each posting and extracts its country limits, salary range, skills and 26 work-style signals, each with the text it was based on. Where an ad doesn't state a country limit, the limit is inferred from the posting's location, benefits or currency.
  • The AI makes mistakes, so check the employer's posting before you apply. When we find a systematic error, we fix it, re-run the affected jobs, and correct any published figure that it changed.

We publish what the data shows about the job market, with the method and its limits:
